I felt compelled to create this blog to document my own journey of life in regards to my experiences of God and Jesus Christ. Perhaps others seeking testimony about God and Christ may find it useful.
I was not brought up in church. In fact, as far as I know, my parents were athiest or agnostic. My grandmother took my brothers and I to church several times as kids but we were busy goofing around and never paid much attention.
But, I have always felt the presence of God. I’ve known he was there from my earliest memories. I even remember writing him letters and stashing them behind my dresser as a little kid, maybe 7 years old, hoping he would read them.
After my mom died when I was 14 years old, I had a very powerful dream where God revealed himself to me. It was astonishing experience.
Since those days I have read the Bible front to back and have attended church as an adult. I pray daily and have had many personal experiences which have validated my faith the Holy Spirit of God and Jesus both.
Jesus said: “..blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” – John 21:29
I am a sinner. I try not to sin but have given into temptation countless times. I strive to be a better person and Christian. It is a struggle that all Christians face.
I named this blog “153 fishes” after the exact amount of fish that were described in John 21:11 “Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty and three: and for all them were so many, yet was not the net broken.” See all of John 21 here
This passage resounded with me because it specifically mentioned the number of fish. This detail seemed important enough for them to record and for scribes to continue to copy countless times over thousands of years. Where it states “there were so many, yet was not the net broken” to me is analogous of Christianity and Christians in general.
